The Daily Prayer
O great Saint Peregrine, you have been called “the Mighty” and “the Wonder-Worker” because of the countless miracles you have obtained from God for those who turn to you. For so many years you bore in your own body a cancer that destroys the very fibre of our being, and you had recourse to the source of all grace when human help could do no more. You were favoured with the vision of Jesus coming down from his Cross to heal your affliction. Ask of God and Our Lady the cure of the sick whom we entrust to you (mention their names).
Obtain for me the grace to accept God’s will in all things, a lively faith, and perfect resignation in suffering, so that, uniting my pains to those of Jesus and his sorrowful Mother, I may one day share their glory in heaven. Saint Peregrine, pray for us. Amen.

About Saint Peregrine
Saint Peregrine Laziosi (c. 1265–1345) was born in Forlì, Italy, and joined the Servite Order after a conversion of heart. Known for penance and charity, in old age he developed a cancerous growth on his leg that was to be amputated. The night before the surgery he prayed at length before the crucifix; in the morning the cancer had completely vanished. He lived to about eighty and was canonized in 1726. His feast is celebrated on May 1.
