The Litany of the Blessed Virgin Mary was composed in the Middle Ages and takes its familiar name from its faithful use at the shrine of the Holy House of Loreto. Approved by Pope Sixtus V in 1587, it sets before us Our Lady’s privileges, her holiness, her motherly care and her queenly majesty – title after title, like beads on a chain.
