To consecrate ourselves to Mary is to give ourselves wholly to Jesus through the hands of his Mother. This act, in the spirit of St Louis de Montfort, makes us entirely her own.
The Act of Consecration
O Mary, Mother of God,
I give myself entirely to you,
and to show my devotion to you,
I consecrate to you this day
my eyes, my ears, my mouth, my heart,
my whole being without reserve.
Since I am all your own,
keep me, guard me, as your property and possession.
Lead me to Jesus, your Son;
form Christ in me;
and let nothing in me be done
but for his glory and your honor.
I am all yours, and all I have is yours, O loving Jesus, through Mary, your holy Mother. Amen.
When to Pray This Prayer
On a Marian feast, at the end of a thirty-three day preparation, or any day you wish to renew your gift of self to God through Mary.
About This Prayer
St Louis de Montfort taught that true devotion to Mary is the surest and easiest way to Christ. His motto, taken up by St John Paul II, was Totus tuus: wholly yours.
