The Novena Prayer to Saint Jude Thaddeus
Pray this prayer once daily for nine consecutive days:
Most holy Apostle, SAINT JUDE THADDEUS, faithful servant and friend of Jesus, you bear the name of the traitor, who delivered the beloved Master into the hands of His enemies. Yet the Church honors and invokes you universally as the patron of hopeless cases and things despaired. Pray for me! Make use, I implore you, of that particular privilege accorded to you to bring visible and speedy help where help is almost despaired. Come to my assistance in this great need that I may receive the consolation and support of heaven in all my necessities, evils, and sufferings: particularly…

About Saint Jude Thaddeus
Saint Jude, also known as Thaddeus or Lebbaeus, was one of the twelve apostles chosen by Jesus Christ. He was the brother (or cousin, depending on translation) of James the Less. Though little is recorded about him in the Gospels, he is mentioned as being present at the Last Supper and as one who remained faithful to Jesus throughout his passion.
After the Ascension, Jude became a missionary, bringing the Gospel to distant lands. According to tradition, he traveled to Mesopotamia, Persia, and possibly other regions, spreading the faith and performing miracles. He and Saint Simon are venerated together as co-missionaries. Jude ultimately suffered martyrdom for his faith, being executed for preaching the Gospel and converting souls to Christ.
Despite bearing a surname that reminds us of betrayal-his name was close to Judas, the traitor-Saint Jude earned the gratitude and devotion of countless faithful. He became known as the patron of hopeless and desperate cases, the “Apostle of Hope,” because his intercession brings miraculous aid precisely when help seems impossible. The novena to Saint Jude has been prayed for centuries by those facing seemingly insurmountable obstacles, and countless favors have been attributed to his powerful intercession. His feast day is October 28.
