The Chaplet of the Precious Blood honors the seven times Our Lord shed his Blood for our salvation. It is prayed in seven mysteries, with offerings of the Blood of Christ to the Father.
How to Pray the Chaplet
For each of the seven mysteries, pray five Our Fathers (one Our Father in the seventh), then offer:
We offer you, O Lord Jesus Christ,
this shedding of your Precious Blood,
in atonement for our sins,
and we beg of you, through its merits,
mercy for us and for the whole world.
The Seven Sheddings of the Precious Blood
1. The Circumcision.
2. The Agony in the Garden.
3. The Scourging at the Pillar.
4. The Crowning with Thorns.
5. The Carrying of the Cross.
6. The Crucifixion.
7. The Piercing of his Side.
To conclude
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit;
as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
world without end. Amen.
When to Pray This Prayer
In July, the month of the Precious Blood, on Fridays, and in devotion to the Passion of Christ.
About This Prayer
This devotion, long fostered by the Church and especially by the Missionaries of the Precious Blood, recalls the price of our redemption: the Blood of the Lamb poured out for us.
