A Prayer of Thanksgiving

Pilgrims in a prayer of thanksgiving with an open Bible.

Gratitude is at the heart of prayer. This prayer of thanksgiving lifts up to God all that he has given us, the great gifts and the small, and asks the grace of a thankful heart.

The Prayer

Almighty and ever-living God,
I give you thanks with all my heart
for the countless gifts you have given me:
for life and health,
for faith and family,
for every grace of body and soul,
and above all for the gift of your Son.
Teach me to receive all things from your hand with gratitude,
to use them for your glory,
and to share them with those in need.
Let my whole life be a thanksgiving to you,
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,
now and for ever. Amen.

When to Pray This Prayer

In thanksgiving for any blessing, at the close of the day or year, and whenever you wish to count God's gifts.
