Saint Anne, the mother of the Blessed Virgin Mary and grandmother of Jesus, has been loved for centuries as a powerful and tender intercessor, especially for families, mothers, and those longing for children. This nine-day novena entrusts your needs to her motherly heart.

How to Pray This Novena

Pray the prayer below once a day for nine consecutive days, holding your intention in your heart.

The Daily Prayer

Glorious Saint Anne, filled with compassion for those who invoke you, and with love for those who suffer, heavily laden with the weight of my troubles, I cast myself at your feet and humbly beg of you to take my present need under your special protection (mention your request).

Vouchsafe to recommend it to your daughter, the Blessed Virgin Mary, and to lay it before the throne of Jesus, so that he may bring it to a happy outcome. Cease not to intercede for me until my request is granted. Above all, obtain for me the grace of one day beholding my God face to face, and with you and Mary and all the saints, praising and blessing him for all eternity. Good Saint Anne, mother of her who is our life, our sweetness, and our hope, pray to her for us, and obtain our request. Amen.

When to Pray This Novena

The novena is traditionally prayed from July 17 to July 25, ending on the eve of the feast of Saints Anne and Joachim on July 26, but may be prayed any time of year.

About Saint Anne

Saint Anne (with her husband, Saint Joachim) is honored by tradition as the mother of the Virgin Mary. Though not named in the Gospels, devotion to her is ancient in both East and West. Her great shrine at Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré in Quebec has been a place of healing and pilgrimage for more than three centuries. She is patroness of mothers, grandmothers, and families.
