Night Prayer places the hours of darkness in God's hands. The Church ends each day with this prayer of trust, asking the protection of the angels and a restful, holy sleep.

The Prayer

Visit, we beg you, O Lord, this dwelling,
and drive far from it all the snares of the enemy.
Let your holy angels dwell here to keep us in peace,
and let your blessing be upon us always;
through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Before Sleep

Into your hands, O Lord,
I commend my spirit.
Protect me, Lord, while I am awake,
and watch over me as I sleep,
that awake I may keep watch with Christ,
and asleep may rest in his peace.
Lord, grant us a quiet night and a perfect end. Amen.

You may add the Hail Mary and: Guardian Angel, watch over me this night.
