We long for peace: peace in our hearts, peace in our homes, peace in the world. This ancient prayer asks God for the peace that the world cannot give, which comes from him alone.

The Prayer

O God, from whom all holy desires,
all good counsels, and all just works do proceed:
give to your servants that peace
which the world cannot give;
that our hearts may be set to obey your commandments,
and that, the fear of enemies removed,
our times, by your protection, may be peaceful.
Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Grant peace, O Lord, in our days, for there is no other who fights for us, if not you, our God.

When to Pray This Prayer

In times of conflict and unrest, for peace in the family and the world, and whenever your heart is troubled.

About This Prayer
