When our own strength fails, we turn to the God who is our rock and our refuge. This prayer asks for the courage and endurance to carry what we must, leaning not on ourselves but on him.
The Prayer
Almighty God, my rock and my refuge,
when I am weak, be my strength.
When I am weary, be my rest.
When I am afraid, be my courage.
Lift up my heart when it is cast down,
and steady me when I am ready to fall.
Help me to carry what you have given me to carry,
not in my own power, but in yours,
for your grace is sufficient for me,
and your strength is made perfect in weakness.
I can do all things in Christ who strengthens me. Amen.
When to Pray This Prayer
In times of trial, exhaustion, or discouragement, and whenever your own strength is not enough.
About This Prayer
Scripture promises that God is our strength and that his grace is enough for us. To ask for strength is not weakness but wisdom: it places our trust where it belongs.
