Saint Cajetan, called the patron of work, bread, and providence, is invoked with great trust by those seeking employment and by families in need. This prayer entrusts your work, your daily bread, and your worries to his intercession and to God’s fatherly care.
Prayer to Saint Cajetan
O glorious Saint Cajetan, you trusted completely in the providence of God, and gave yourself to the service of the poor, the sick, and the unemployed of your time. Look with mercy upon me and upon all who seek honest work by which to live with dignity.
Intercede for me, that I may find employment fitting to my needs, and help me to place all my trust in God’s providence, so that my family and I may be provided for. Obtain for me patience, courage, and hope, and the grace to use every opportunity with honesty and to serve others with joy. I entrust to you especially (mention your request). Saint Cajetan, patron of the unemployed, pray for us. Amen.
About Saint Cajetan
Saint Cajetan of Thiene (1480–1547) was an Italian priest and reformer who trained as a lawyer before giving his life to God. He co-founded the Theatine Order and devoted himself to the poor and the sick, founding charitable institutions that offered loans without interest to those in need. His trust in divine providence earned him the title “Father of Providence.” His feast is kept on August 7.
