The Holy Cloak of St Joseph is a thirty-day devotion, one day for each year that Jesus lived under the care of St Joseph. It places us beneath the mantle of his protection and asks his powerful intercession for our greatest needs.

The Principal Prayer

O glorious Patriarch St Joseph,
who was chosen by God to be the foster father of Jesus,
the most pure spouse of Mary ever Virgin,
and the head of the Holy Family,
and who was then made by the Vicar of Christ
the heavenly Patron and Protector of the Church:
with the fullest confidence I implore at this hour your powerful aid
for all the needs of the Church,
and for myself in my own necessities.
I place myself and all that is mine under your protection.
Be to me a father, and guard me as your child.
(Mention your request.)
Glorious St Joseph,
never has it been heard that anyone who implored your help
and sought your mediation was left unaided.
Take therefore my petition into your hands,
and present it to Jesus, your foster Son,
that he may grant it for the glory of God
and the good of my soul.
Amen.

Pray this prayer each day for thirty days, in honor of the thirty years St Joseph lived with Jesus and Mary.

When to Pray This Prayer

For thirty days for a serious intention, in March (the month of St Joseph), on Wednesdays, and on his feasts (March 19 and May 1).

About This Prayer

This devotion takes its name from the cloak of St Joseph, under which the faithful seek shelter, as children take refuge beneath a father's mantle. St Joseph is the Protector of the universal Church and the patron of fathers, workers, and the dying.
