Prayers to Saints

Saint Therese of Lisieux (1873-1897), known as “the Little Flower,” was a French Carmelite nun who discovered profound spiritual greatness through small, ordinary acts of love. Her “Little Way” teaches that holiness does not require great deeds but rather great love in small things. Though she died of tuberculosis at just 23 years old, having never left her convent, Pope Pius X called her “the greatest saint of modern times.” Her feast day is October 1, and millions are inspired by her simple path to sanctity.

Saint Jude Thaddeus was one of the twelve apostles of Jesus Christ, and though bearing the surname of the traitor Judas, the Church honors him as the patron of hopeless and desperate cases. He is called the “Apostle of Hope” because his intercession brings consolation and aid to those facing seemingly impossible situations. His feast day, celebrated on October 28 (with Saint Simon), has been observed for centuries. The novena to Saint Jude is traditionally prayed on October 19-27, culminating on his feast day, or at any time when desperate help is needed.
